21 Additional Foreigners Tested Positive in Dongducheon... Total 146 Cases

Gyeonggi-do COVID-19 Vaccination Rate at 41.6%

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Twenty-one additional people tested positive for COVID-19 at a temporary screening clinic for foreigners in Dongducheon-si, Gyeonggi Province.

According to Dongducheon-si on the 6th, following 77 confirmed cases on the 2nd through proactive testing of foreigners across the city, 18 cases were confirmed on the 3rd, 2 on the 4th, and 21 on the 5th, bringing the total confirmed cases to 118.

Thus, the total number of foreigners confirmed positive through proactive testing in the Dongducheon area, which began on the 23rd of last month, has increased to 146.

As foreigner cases have rapidly spread recently, the city has issued an administrative order requiring diagnostic testing for all foreign workers in the area by the 10th.

The city is conducting epidemiological investigations, including tracing the movements and contacts of confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, as of midnight on the same day in Gyeonggi Province, the cumulative number of confirmed cases is 24,588, with 172 new local cases and 1 imported case.

The death toll increased by 2, bringing the cumulative COVID-19 deaths in the province to 502.

The bed occupancy rate at COVID-19 dedicated hospitals in the province is 52.9%, and the occupancy rate at seven residential treatment centers is 63.8%.

Additionally, on the previous day (the 5th), 15,291 people received COVID-19 vaccinations in the province, bringing the total number of vaccinated individuals to 68,883 (vaccination rate 41.6%).
