Pohang City's Representative Women-Friendly Project 'Eommachamsondan' Launch Ceremony ... Flexible Working Hours Jobs

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] In Pohang, the 'Eomma Chamsondan,' a group of women in their 30s and 40s balancing childcare and social participation activities, has been formed and started its activities again this year.

At the launch ceremony held at Pohang City Hall on the 5th, 200 members of the 'Eomma Chamsondan' will participate for six months until August, working four hours a day in childcare management, meal assistance, hygiene management, and administrative support at kindergartens, local children's centers, social welfare facilities, and public institutions.

The 'Eomma Chamsondan,' a women's time-selective job project, has received great response from local women hoping for a balance between work and life, showing a competition rate of 4 to 1 in the open recruitment.

Since 2015, 2,470 people have participated over seven years, with a total of 8.675 billion KRW fully funded by the city government.

In particular, the Eomma Chamsondan project was selected as a benchmarking project by Gyeongsangbuk-do in 2017 and expanded under the name 'Ai Haengbok Doumi' (Child Happiness Helper) to 23 cities and counties within Gyeongbuk Province. In Pohang, the 'Ai Haengbok Doumi' project runs separately from the Eomma Chamsondan project, with 370 women participating until August.

Lee Kang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, stated, "The Eomma Chamsondan, which started as a short-term job project, has now established itself as a representative women-friendly project of the city," adding, "We will continue to discover quality jobs for women and create a happy future for the women of Pohang."
