[Asia Economy Reporter Sung Ki-ho] Russia announced on the 5th (local time) that it has completed the Phase 2 clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine 'Sputnik Light,' which provides preventive effects with just one dose.
According to Russian media, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko told reporters that the Phase 2 trial of Sputnik Light has been completed and the results have been submitted to an expert evaluation panel.
Once the evaluation of the Phase 2 results is finished, local health authorities are expected to approve its use. Russia has so far approved the use of all three domestically developed vaccines after Phase 2 trials, followed by Phase 3 trials.
In the case of Sputnik Light, it already received Phase 3 approval from health authorities in mid-last month.
The Phase 3 trial, aimed at verifying the vaccine's immune efficacy and safety, is scheduled to continue until January 28 of next year.
