People Power Party Urges Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo to Resign: "No Right to Talk About Fair Trials"

On the 5th, Kim Ki-hyun, head of the People Power Party's fact-finding team on the impeachment deal, called for Chief Justice Kim's voluntary resignation at a press conference.

Kim criticized Chief Justice Kim for mocking the public by referring to his remarks at the National Court Presidents' Meeting the previous day. Earlier, Chief Justice Kim apologized, saying, "I apologize for causing disappointment and concern to all members of the court family due to my recent negligence," and urged everyone to wholeheartedly strive to realize ‘good trials.’

Regarding this, Kim said, "Do you not feel even a trace of guilt despite repeatedly lying?" and pointed out, "With a mouth that speaks with a forked tongue, you have no qualification to talk about ‘good trials.’"

He added, "You habitually lie and stubbornly remain in the position of Chief Justice. How can frontline judges conduct good trials against defendants who lie with such brazenness?" and said, "Resigning now is the best way to ensure ‘good trials.’"
