Daejeon City Announces Architectural Design Competition for Startup Park 'Anchor Building'

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City is holding a public competition for the architectural design of the startup park’s ‘Anchor Building.’

The city announced on the 5th that it will accept applications for the architectural design competition of the startup park Anchor Building in collaboration with the Daejeon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation until the 15th.

After the proposal competition, the city plans to comprehensively evaluate the designers’ experience, capabilities, execution plans, and methods to finally select the most suitable designer for the project.

The architectural design of the startup park’s Anchor Building is expected to be completed around November. Upon completion, the building will serve as a hub for regional startups’ innovative technology entrepreneurship by providing spaces for entrepreneurs and operating companies to reside, as well as a startup complex cultural space for exchange, cooperation, research, and education.

After the application deadline, a site briefing will be held on the 16th, followed by proposal presentations and evaluations on the 20th of next month to select the winner. The winner will be granted the basic and detailed design rights for the startup park.

For more detailed information about the competition, please refer to the Public Procurement Service’s Nara Marketplace and the Daejeon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation websites.

Meanwhile, the startup park Anchor Building is planned to be constructed in Gung-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, with three basement floors and four above-ground floors. The building will house various infrastructure facilities for entrepreneurs, including spaces for startup companies, a multipurpose hall, an exhibition hall, and a prototype production workshop.

Additionally, the city plans to integrate the nation’s only Failure Museum to complete the ‘Startup-Growth-Failure-Restartup’ cycle, aiming to utilize the space as a place where entrepreneurs can overcome failure and succeed in starting new businesses.
