Selection of about 570 people for Seoul citizens' safety, local quarantine, and community job projects in the first half of 2021... Simultaneous job creation and livelihood stabilization for vulnerable residents through public job provision
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is making every effort to expand public jobs to stabilize the lives of residents suffering from the prolonged COVID-19 economic downturn and to revitalize the local economy.
Through various job projects such as the Seoul Citizens Safety Job Project, Local Quarantine Job Project, and Local Community Job Project, jobs are provided to vulnerable employment groups, the unemployed, and those on leave or who have closed businesses, achieving both job creation amid the COVID-19 crisis and residents' livelihood stabilization.
In January, the district prioritized residents who lost jobs or closed businesses due to COVID-19 for the first half of 2021 Seoul Citizens Safety Job Project, which was applied for through the local community service centers. After reviewing applicants' property, income, and other qualification information, 300 people were selected.
The selected participants are engaged in various activities such as fever checks at the comprehensive government building, park maintenance, and environmental improvement and quarantine support in 21 neighborhoods.
Additionally, as the employment crisis caused by COVID-19 prolonged, 180 people were selected for the Local Quarantine Job Project, 64 additional people for the Seoul Citizens Safety Job Project, and 26 for the Local Community Project by comprehensively scoring property, income, and participation history.
The selected personnel are assigned not only to the district office and community service centers but also to indoor sports facilities, religious facilities, libraries, and schools within the area to support COVID-19 quarantine facility inspections.
The district plans to make every effort to stabilize residents' lives and revitalize the local economy through various job creation projects such as the Seoul Citizens Safety Job Project and Local Community Job Project in the second half of the year as well.
Meanwhile, the district is also focusing on employment support by providing quality employment information and counseling through the Job Center on the first floor of the district office to help participants transition from financially supported jobs to stable private-sector jobs.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I hope that expanding and providing public jobs to residents facing an employment crisis due to the prolonged COVID-19 will help create jobs and support the livelihoods of vulnerable employment groups even a little. We will continue to create various customized jobs that can practically help residents and invigorate the local economy.”
