[Asia Economy Reporter Ji Yeon-jin]Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, mentioned on the 4th that he feels "complicated" regarding the resignation of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.
In an interview with KBS's 'Joo Jin-woo Live,' Governor Lee said, "I want to emphasize the responsibility of public officials appointed by elected powers."
He stated to former Prosecutor General Yoon, "He should recognize the point that the prosecution has acted as a deep-rooted evil by covering up crimes that exist and fabricating crimes that do not."
Regarding Yoon's future moves, he said, "Now, as a citizen, he can fully enjoy political freedom, express himself sufficiently, and ultimately it is judged that he will engage in politics," adding, "It would be good if he participates in political activities that help the people through rational competition."
Meanwhile, in response to criticism from some quarters labeling him a 'communist' for advocating the basic income agenda, Governor Lee rebutted, "I see sustainable economic growth and recovery as the most important policy tasks," and stated, "I am not a communist but a marketist."
