Dietary Supplement Sales Related to Diet Increase by 504%
Demand for Inner Beauty Supplements Like Prune Juice, Tart Cherry, Probiotics Rises
'Diet Management Special Exhibition' Featuring Over 180 Diet Control Products Until the 11th
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Market Kurly announced on the 4th that due to the New Year's weight management craze, sales of diet health functional foods (health supplements) have surged this year, and it will hold a 'Diet Management Special Exhibition' until the 11th.
Analyzing health supplement sales data from January to February, Market Kurly stated that sales of diet health supplements increased by 504% compared to the same period last year. This figure far exceeds the overall health supplement sales growth rate (96%) during the same period. The most popular diet health supplement products were powder stick products containing Garcinia and Cissus extracts, which help reduce body fat and are mixed with water, while jelly sticks, vegan pills, and diet probiotics also gained popularity.
Inner beauty health supplements, which help maintain internal health, are also popular. In the case of prune juice, which aids in maintaining gut health, the number of products sold increased by 100% compared to the previous year, and sales volume rose by 160%. Tart cherry, which helps lower cholesterol levels, has seen monthly sales increase by an average of 41% since its debut in July last year, and probiotics and collagen, which play important roles in maintaining health, continue to enjoy steady popularity.
Sales of products that help with dieting are also significantly increasing in other categories. Although chicken breast, a representative diet food, accounts for only about 3% of all ready-to-eat meals, its sales volume accounts for about 10%. Sales of diet lunch boxes increased by 142% compared to the previous year, nearly double the overall lunch box sales growth rate (73%). Cereal, popular as a meal replacement food, also increased the variety of products sold by 312% due to growing customer demand. Conversely, the increase in sales of high-calorie, high-fat products was relatively small. Among ready-to-eat meals, sales of fried foods increased by 60%, and dumplings by 14%, while among snacks, chocolates and candies increased by 52%, and rice cakes and traditional Korean sweets by 24%.
Market Kurly is holding a 'Diet Management Special Exhibition' until the 11th, gathering diet-related products with discounts of up to 60%. It offers about 180 products, including low-carb foods that help with weight management, protein-focused products that aid muscle strengthening, and health supplements with boost-up effects. During this special exhibition, a volume discount event is held: a 15% discount for purchasing 5 chicken breasts and 25% for 10; for lunch boxes, a 10% discount for 5 purchases and 15% for 10 purchases.
