[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 4th that it held an autonomous decentralization policy council with local district members of the National Assembly.
At the policy council, National Assembly members Lee Yong-bin (Gwangju Gwangsan Gap) and Min Hyung-bae (Gwangju Gwangsan Eul) attended and put their heads together to find solutions to local issues.
The issues discussed at the policy council included 27 projects in 16 fields such as urban infrastructure.
The attendees formed a consensus on the budget and system preparations necessary to solve key issues such as ▲expansion of medical, cultural, and sports facilities ▲seeking measures to respond to the climate crisis ▲activation of resource circulation projects.
Lee Yong-bin, chairman of the Gwangsan Gap regional committee, said, “Last year, through close consultation with Gwangsan-gu, we were able to secure the project cost for the expansion of Gwangju Songjeong Station, which had been stalled for over 10 years, achieving many results,” and added, “Let’s make this year one where we tighten our shoelaces and run together for the development of Gwangsan and the improvement of residents’ quality of life.”
Min Hyung-bae, chairman of the Gwangsan Eul regional committee, also said, “The autonomous decentralization policy council is a good cooperation channel where the efforts of Gwangsan-gu and the Democratic Party of Korea produce beneficial results for citizens’ lives,” and added, “Regarding the recently controversial Sanjeong District housing development, let us gather wisdom and strength together to fully reflect citizens’ opinions and resolve the limitations and inconveniences of past district unit developments.”
Kim Sam-ho, mayor of Gwangsan-gu, said, “Behind the innovative achievements made despite the crisis of COVID-19 was the support of the two National Assembly members,” and added, “Let us continue collaboration between central politics and local administration for the happiness of Gwangsan residents.”
Meanwhile, the policy council on this day was conducted in a dual broadcast format, with National Assembly members Lee Yong-bin and Min Hyung-bae participating via video conference, and members of Gwangju City and Gwangsan-gu councils, Democratic Party Gap and Eul regional committee officials, Mayor Kim Sam-ho of Gwangsan-gu, and about 10 public officials attending in person at the Yoon Sang-won Hall of the district office.
