Two Public Childcare Centers Opened in Yeongdeungpo-gu Singil 4 and 6-dong...Total 80 Centers in the First Half of the Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) strengthened the public nature of childcare and realized public childcare responsibility that parents can trust by opening two new public daycare centers on the 2nd.

Following the opening of six public daycare centers last year, the district opened two more new daycare centers within just two months of the new year, accelerating efforts to create a favorable childcare environment for raising children.

Since the 7th local government administration, the district has selected the expansion of public daycare centers with excellent childcare environments as its top pledge project, achieving remarkable results by expanding a total of 20 public daycare centers: 3 in 2018, 9 in 2019, 6 in 2020, and 2 so far this year.

As a result, the number of public daycare centers in the area, which was 78 by last year, increased to 80 with the addition of two new centers in the first half of this year.

The newly opened daycare centers are Shingil Hillstate Narae Daycare Center (Shingil 4-dong) and Shingil Park Xi Solsup Daycare Center (Shingil 6-dong).

Shingil Hillstate Narae Daycare Center, located in Shingil 4-dong, is situated within the Shingil Hillstate apartment complex, with a total floor area of 591.87㎡ on the first floor. It has a capacity of 65 children.

Shingil Park Xi Solsup Daycare Center, located in Shingil 6-dong, is situated within the Shingil Park Xi apartment complex, with a total floor area of 209.64㎡ on the first floor. It has a capacity of 29 children.

Thus, a total of 94 infants and toddlers can now additionally use public daycare centers.

The district plans to continue expanding public daycare centers through various methods such as new construction, conversion of private facilities to public, and long-term leasing of management buildings, providing safe and comfortable childcare facilities.

Additionally, to reduce childcare burdens caused by a shortage of childcare facilities, the district will evenly distribute daycare centers to achieve regional balance, and will simultaneously build diverse educational infrastructure and improve quality through public-private cooperation.

Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We are striving to improve the quality of childcare services, including expanding excellent public daycare centers and improving the treatment of daycare staff,” and added, “We will continue to make every effort to provide a safe and open childcare environment that parents can trust.”
