Expecting Increased Resident Participation Through 10 Sessions Including Inclusive Education and Field-Specific Group Training
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Mi-seok] Gurye-gun announced on the 4th that the Urban Regeneration Academy opened yesterday at the Lifelong Education Room of the Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
The Urban Regeneration Academy, promoted as part of the Gurye-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal Project's resident capacity-building initiative, recruited students from the 1st to the 15th of last month and is scheduled to be conducted over a total of 10 sessions.
This education program was established to help residents properly understand the urban regeneration project through an integrated education program linking the existing Urban Regeneration Residents' University and employment/startup education, secure resident participation in solving local issues, and create a sustainable urban regeneration foundation.
The main contents of the education include a 3-week integrated urban regeneration education course, space management consulting, village beautification, local festivals, and a 6-week group education course in four fields including the food service startup process, followed by a 1-week session for sharing results and a completion ceremony.
This Urban Regeneration Academy aims to cultivate experts for urban regeneration and strengthen the practical capabilities of resident-participatory urban regeneration projects.
After a brief opening ceremony on the day, a lecture was held by Dr. Kim Eojin, an urban engineering expert, under the theme of the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project and the role of resident communities.
During the 3-week integrated course, lectures cover understanding the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, village management plans and community activities, and introductions to urban regeneration activity cases. Afterwards, students choose their field of study among four areas including space management consulting and take specialized education accordingly.
Kim Sun-ho, the governor of Gurye-gun, said, “I congratulate the opening of the Urban Regeneration Academy and expect that through this education, new urban regeneration items and concepts will be discovered, and resident participation in the urban regeneration field will be further expanded.”
