People Power Party: "Yoon Seok-yeol's Resignation Confirms Collapse of Common Sense and Justice... It's Devastating"

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 4th, the People Power Party expressed a "devastated" stance regarding Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's announcement of his resignation.

Bae Jun-young, spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in an oral comment that "Prosecutor General Yoon has ultimately stepped down," adding, "As he said, it is a devastating day confirming that common sense and justice in the Republic of Korea have collapsed."

Earlier, Prosecutor General Yoon said at a press conference, "I intend to resign as Prosecutor General today," and added, "I can no longer stand by as the justice and common sense that this society has painstakingly built crumble. My work in the prosecution ends here."

Spokesperson Bae criticized, "There must have been limits to resisting the attacks of a regime that prioritizes selfish desires and self-preservation," and said, "When the regime saw the blade of the 'right person for prosecutorial reform' they appointed turning against them, they not only made a puppet Prosecutor General through personnel violence but are now completely overhauling the criminal justice system."

He mentioned, "The government and ruling party rewrote constitutional history by creating the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, and now they are hastily trying to establish the Central Investigation Agency as if 'cramming food with a crab's eye in the wind,'" adding, "One can imagine the Prosecutor General's regret at having to watch the destruction of constitutional spirit and the rule of law system."

He continued, "If the Moon Jae-in administration’s 'Our Prosecutor General Yoon' resigns, it means the last brake to stop the regime’s reckless advance will be gone," and said, "Although the regime’s core and their henchmen may be rejoicing for now, from now on, they will have to bear the weight of the consequences that Prosecutor General Yoon has laid down today."
