Gwangyang-si Iksin Village Selected for Urban Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project Competition

38 Billion Won Investment by 2024 Expected to Improve Residential Environment and Living Standards

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City announced on the 4th that Iksin Village in Gwangyang-eup has been selected for this year's Urban Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project competition, hosted by the National Balanced Development Committee.

The Urban Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project targets urban areas where more than 50% of houses face poor roads less than 4 meters wide, more than 50% of houses are over 30 years old, and the proportion of basic livelihood security recipients is over 9%. The project supports expanding living infrastructure, improving residential environments, and strengthening resident capabilities to ensure residents' basic living standards.

The main projects for this year's selected Iksin Village include △ living and hygiene infrastructure projects such as fire safety street maintenance, parking lot construction, and installation of communal hygiene facilities △ safety assurance projects such as slope reinforcement, installation of emergency safety bells, installation of security CCTV, installation of security lights, and installation of handrails on slopes △ housing maintenance projects such as demolition of vacant houses, slate roof improvement, and home repairs.

The city plans to invest a total of 3.8 billion KRW (2.6 billion KRW national funds, 300 million KRW provincial funds, 500 million KRW city funds, and 400 million KRW self-funding) by 2024. It will start the basic planning and detailed design service in April this year and proceed with the project in earnest from the second half of the year.
