[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] GC Green Cross will be in charge of the domestic distribution of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine.
GC Green Cross announced on the 4th that it will distribute 40 million doses (enough for 20 million people) of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine in South Korea. This quantity is scheduled to be introduced by our government starting from the second quarter.
This distribution is based on contracts between GC Green Cross and Moderna, as well as between GC Green Cross and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA). GC Green Cross will be responsible for the domestic approval process and distribution with support from Moderna and KDCA.
Heo Eun-cheol, CEO of GC Green Cross, said, "We are proud to cooperate with the government and Moderna to supply vaccines to the public," adding, "Since preventing infectious diseases is the top priority for pharmaceutical companies, we are exploring various ways to prepare for COVID-19 and potential future public health emergencies."
