One Harbor Workers' Union Member Worked on Ship on 3rd, Seven on 4th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A group of workers at the port have tested positive for COVID-19, raising another alarm for quarantine measures at Busan Port.
Eight members of the Busan Gamcheon Port Stevedores Union were confirmed positive for COVID-19 within two days.
According to the Busan Stevedores Union and quarantine authorities on the 4th, one union member working at Gamcheon Port tested positive the previous day, followed by seven more confirmed cases on the same day.
If workers who had contact with the confirmed cases in the same work team enter self-quarantine, it is expected that cargo handling operations at Gamcheon Port will be disrupted.
A representative of the Busan Stevedores Union said, "All the confirmed union members were workers who boarded ships, raising concerns that they might have been infected by foreign crew members."
