Hampyeong-gun Achieves Three Consecutive Years of Selection for Living Condition Improvement Project

[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 4th that Hamo and Ungok villages in Haebo-myeon were finally selected in the '2021 Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project' contest hosted by the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development.

With this project selection, Hampyeong-gun achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for three consecutive years, following Bojeon in Singwang-myeon in 2019, and Yongchon, Mosan in Hampyeong-eup, and Sinchon village in Nasan-myeon last year.

This project aims to improve residents' quality of life and enhance the housing environment for vulnerable groups by establishing various living infrastructures such as disaster prevention, hygiene, and safety. Seventy percent of the project cost is supported by national funds.

The county plans to invest a total of 2 billion won in Hamo and Ungok villages in Haebo, which were selected for the project, to carry out disaster prevention projects over four years from this year to 2024, including replacing slate roofs, expanding village fire roads, and repairing old fences.

It also includes human care services such as health care to revitalize the community and projects to strengthen residents' capabilities.

County Governor Lee Sang-ik said, "We have created an environment that can transform into a vibrant village by improving the housing environment for vulnerable groups who are in safety blind spots," adding, "We will make every effort to improve residents' quality of life by promptly establishing detailed plans for project promotion and continuously discovering villages with poor living conditions."
