[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol strongly opposed the Democratic Party of Korea's 'Geomsu Wanbak (Complete Removal of Prosecutorial Investigation Authority),' while the Democratic Party's Special Committee on Prosecutorial Reform suggested on the 4th the possibility of adjusting the pace of establishing the Serious Crime Investigation Agency, stating, "There was no discussion about the timing of the bill proposal. Further discussions are needed."

Oh Ki-hyung, spokesperson for the Special Committee on Prosecutorial Reform, met with reporters after a closed-door meeting held at the National Assembly that morning and said, "Basically, we will listen to various opinions. There is no need to definitively declare the timing (of the bill proposal) at this point."

Spokesperson Oh added, "We intend to proceed calmly in the broad direction," and said, "If there are various expert opinions, we will listen carefully and probably propose the bill at a well-organized level."

Regarding the date of the bill proposal, he did not specify a concrete timeline but only responded, "We will continue discussions." Previously, the Democratic Party had maintained the position of proposing prosecutorial reform-related bills, including the establishment of the Investigation Agency, in March and processing them by June.

Regarding rumors about Prosecutor General Yoon's resignation raised by some quarters, he drew a clear line, saying, "There was no such discussion today."

The special committee reportedly discussed the reorganization of the prosecution system that day. Spokesperson Oh stated, "We reported on bills related to preferential treatment for former officials, the establishment of a case allocation standards committee, and diversification of prosecution staffing, and some of these bills have already been proposed."
