Sancheong-gun, Significant Expansion of Electric Vehicle Distribution Project

From 30 units last year to 130 units this year, up to 15 million won subsidy

Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities in Sancheong-gun

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will significantly expand its electric vehicle supply project this year from 30 units last year to 130 units.

The county announced on the 3rd that it is promoting the electric vehicle supply project in 2021 to reduce fine dust and greenhouse gas emissions.

Applications will close once the purchase subsidy supply is exhausted. Applications can be made through the Low Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System.

Eligible applicants are residents aged 18 or older, corporations, and public institutions who have had an address in Sancheong-gun for at least three months as of the announcement date, February 17 of this year.

Applicants must sign a purchase contract with a car dealership and submit the support application through the Low Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System via the dealership.

The number of electric passenger cars supplied this year is 130, an increase of 100 units compared to last year.

Purchase subsidies of up to 15 million KRW are provided depending on the performance of the passenger car (such as driving range).

The subsidy support criteria state that if the vehicle is not delivered within two months from the date the applicant is selected based on vehicle shipment and registration order, the subsidy may be canceled.

If the resident registration certificate or abstract address is not in Sancheong-gun at the time of vehicle registration, the subsidy will not be paid.

A Sancheong-gun official said, “We will actively promote the electric vehicle charger infrastructure project this year as well, installing 12 more public rapid charging facilities through the Ministry of Environment and Korea Electric Power Corporation in addition to the current 17 locations to ensure no inconvenience in electric vehicle operation.”
