Gangbuk-gu, Recruiting Students for First Half of the Year Lifelong Learning Courses Including YouTube Video Production

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) will operate lifelong learning courses in the first half of the year starting in April to guarantee residents' right to learn, and is recruiting students until the 12th.

Previously, the district remodeled the 4th floor of the Gangbuk Cultural Information Library located on Ohyeon-ro to create a space where residents can attend lectures.

Additionally, the district conducted a preliminary demand survey last year and planned the programs reflecting the survey responses.

The education programs consist of six courses: ▲ Easy and Fast! Vietnamese from Today ▲ Now I am a YouTuber ▲ Smartphone Camera Intensive Tutoring ▲ Economic Education That Is Easy to Understand and Want to Know ▲ Bookmaking Class Read by Hand ▲ Art Class Connecting Hearts through Sign Language.

The district made efforts to prepare programs that include people with disabilities as learners or socially considerate of them. In the 'Bookmaking Class Read by Hand,' a process for producing braille tactile picture books is provided, and in the 'Art Class Connecting Hearts through Sign Language,' participants will have time to express practical content such as drawing landscapes in sign language.

Applicants can apply on the Gangbuk-gu Neulbaeumteo website by 6 p.m. on March 12.

The tuition fee for three months is 45,000 KRW, and material costs may be charged separately.

Depending on the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the district plans to select about 10 students on a first-come, first-served basis to allow both face-to-face and non-face-to-face classes.

If the number of students is low, the course may be canceled, and the decision on whether the course will open will be announced on April 8.

For inquiries, contact the Gangbuk-gu Education Support Division.

Gangbuk-gu Mayor Park Gyeom-su said, “We hope many residents who want to have new experiences through lectures will apply,” and added, “We will do our best to support so that all residents can enjoy the joy of lifelong learning and improve their lives through learning.”
