[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Chang-woo Lee) will open three new public daycare centers in time for the March enrollment period to strengthen the public childcare infrastructure.

The newly opened daycare centers are ▲Gu-rip Twin Park Daycare Center (23, Noryangjin-ro 23ga-gil) ▲Gu-rip Eunsol Daycare Center (346-1, Sangdo-ro) ▲Gu-rip Saebom Daycare Center (11-13, Sadang-ro 9-gil), totaling three locations.

Including these three new centers, there are currently 68 public daycare centers in the area, achieving a 50% utilization rate of public daycare centers, which exceeds the government target of 40% and the Seoul city average of 43% (as of December 2020).

First, Gu-rip Twin Park Daycare Center is a one-story building with a total floor area of 309.8㎡ and a capacity of 49 children, operating classes for ▲ages 0-2 ▲age 3.

Gu-rip Eunsol Daycare Center consists of a total floor area of 84.6㎡ and a capacity of 19 children, operating a class for ▲ages 0-2, while Gu-rip Saebom Daycare Center has a total floor area of 497.45㎡ and a capacity of 57 children, operating classes for ▲ages 2-4 ▲age 5.

Last year, the district conducted interior remodeling work to create a safe facility environment and comfortable childcare space for children at each facility and completed the support for necessary equipment and teaching materials.

Additionally, the district will accept applications for enrollment waiting lists for Gu-rip Twin Park Daycare Center and Gu-rip Saebom Daycare Center from 10 a.m. on the 4th until midnight on the 10th.

Residents wishing to enroll can apply by accessing the comprehensive pregnancy and childcare portal, i-Sarang.

Confirmed enrollees will be individually notified through the respective daycare center (director) after the application deadline.

Also, the ‘Gu-rip Areum Daycare Center’ (tentative name), located in the management building of the Sangdo 2-dong Lotte Castle Apartments, which was completed last month, is scheduled to open in April.

The facility is a one-story building with an area of 386.3㎡ and consists of classes for ▲ages 0-2 ▲age 3 ▲part-time classes with a total capacity of 48 children.

For more details, inquiries can be made to the Childcare Division of Dongjak-gu Office.

Meanwhile, since 2016, the district has strengthened public childcare by promoting the nation’s first ‘Childcare Office’ project, where the Childcare Comprehensive Support Center acts as a control tower for childcare, and has actively operated the nation’s first childcare call center ‘i-One,’ which provides one-stop services for infant and toddler childcare counseling and guidance.
