Sadang Station Bicycle Repair Center Launches Bicycle Washing Service at Yangjaecheon Neighborhood Park... Open Tue-Sat 10 AM to 5 PM, No Reservation Needed... Eco-Friendly with Low Water Use and No Detergents Using High-Pressure, High-Temperature Steam
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu will launch the nation's first bicycle washing service starting from the 2nd.
Bicycle washing service centers will be set up at Sadang Station Bicycle Repair Center and Yangjaecheon Neighborhood Park, allowing citizens to use the service free of charge.
The service will operate from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM, and will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Residents who wish to use the service can visit without a separate reservation and receive bicycle washing. The bicycle washing uses a high-pressure, high-temperature steam cleaner, which uses less water and no detergent, making it environmentally friendly.
In response to the increased use of bicycles by residents due to COVID-19, the district has added washing services in addition to bicycle repair services to help residents easily maintain their bicycles.
If various foreign substances such as mud on the bicycle are left unattended, aging accelerates, so regular cleaning is necessary.
Meanwhile, Seocho-gu is carrying out various projects to promote bicycle use among residents. The district started operating bicycle repair centers at Bangbae Station in 2011 and Sadang Station in 2018, recording over 12,000 repairs to date.
Also, since 2018, Seocho-gu has enrolled all residents in bicycle insurance to ensure they can ride bicycles in a safe environment. The insurance period will be extended again this year.
Lee Byung-woo, head of the Transportation Administration Division, stated, “As the number of bicycle users increases, demand for bicycle convenience facilities is also rising, which led to the promotion of the bicycle washing service. This service will help prevent bicycle aging for residents who use bicycles.”
