Presenting Bouquets to Newly Appointed Employees... Gwangjin-gu Takes Steps to Create a Happy Workplace

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is taking steps to create good practices, such as presenting congratulatory flowers to newly appointed public officials, to improve a healthy organizational culture.

First, at the appointment certificate ceremony held in February, the district presented congratulatory flowers to celebrate and encourage new employees taking their first steps in the public service community.

Kim, a newly appointed administrative officer (24), said, “I went to work for the first time with a heart full of excitement and nervousness, and I was surprised and happy to receive flowers from the mayor at the appointment certificate ceremony.”

The district plans to share the appointment certificate ceremony with families through its official YouTube channel and have the mayor send thank-you letters directly to families and others.

The thank-you letters will express gratitude to the families who generously supported the public officials’ entry into public service and will include a message promising to guide them to become excellent talents serving the people.

In addition, the district will carry out a “One Step Ahead” campaign, where senior employees approach newly confirmed employees first to send congratulatory and encouraging messages.

Furthermore, the district plans to actively collect employees’ opinions through various channels such as surveys and prepare measures to improve the organizational culture.

Kim Seon-gap, mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I believe that the organization must be healthy and enjoyable for the work for residents to be enjoyable as well. We will create a healthy organizational culture where new employees and senior employees can harmoniously blend.”
