[Photo] Mapo-gu Awarded Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Commendation for '2020 Integrated Defense Posture Excellence Evaluation'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) achieved the great honor of being selected as an award-winning institution by the Integrated Defense Headquarters Commander (Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) in the '2020 Integrated Defense Posture Excellence Institution Evaluation' hosted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

This evaluation assesses and selects outstanding local governments in the fields of establishing an integrated defense posture, supporting reserve forces, and cooperating with related organizations. In particular, Mapo-gu received high marks for ▲systematic operation of civil defense corps ▲substantial civil defense corps education and training ▲establishment of an integrated defense posture involving civilians, government, military, and police.

Mapo-gu has been supporting local reserve forces to strengthen homeland defense capabilities, and has been replacing the civil defense education, which was suspended due to COVID-19, with non-face-to-face cyber education, making efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and promote a safety culture in the local community.

Yudonggyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "This integrated defense merit award is the result of everyone's efforts to establish a defense posture in Mapo-gu, including civilians, government, military, and police," and added, "We will continue to protect the safety of residents based on a strong security awareness and do our best to safeguard residents' health from COVID-19."
