[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, announced on the 2nd that it recently started license acquisition training for small special agricultural machinery for local farmers.
Farmers must complete training to rent small special agricultural machinery (agricultural excavators, forklifts, skid loaders), which have a high risk of safety accidents in the field and require precise driving skills.
Accordingly, since 2012, the county has trained 50 to 100 people annually, producing a total of 632 trainees by last year. This time, about 70 people applied for 50 spots, showing great enthusiasm among farmers.
The training fee is 320,000 KRW per person, with trainees paying 160,000 KRW and the county supporting 50%, or 160,000 KRW.
The training is conducted in compliance with quarantine rules, with teams of up to 5 people, as social distancing in non-metropolitan areas has been eased to level 1.5.
The training consists of 6 hours of theory and 6 hours of practical training, conducted over 2 days.
The county plans to complete all training before the 9th of next month, when the full-scale farming season begins.
County Governor Shim Min said, “We will make efforts to thoroughly manage safety to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, reduce the economic burden on farmers during difficult times, and contribute to accident prevention through the safe use of agricultural machinery.”
