[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] Park Kwang-woo, Dean of the Graduate School of Finance at KAIST College of Business, was inaugurated as the 38th president at the 45th regular general meeting of the Korea Securities Association held on the 26th of last month.

President Park currently serves as the Dean of the Graduate School of Finance at KAIST and as the Executive Professor of the Digital Finance MBA at the Digital Finance Graduate School jointly established by the Financial Services Commission, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and KAIST at Yeouido IFC. He joined KAIST in 2005 and, following the establishment of the Graduate School of Finance in February 2006, served as the head professor (department chair) of the Finance major and director of the Financial Engineering Research Center.
Before joining KAIST, he was an assistant professor at Chung-Ang University College of Business and a visiting assistant professor at the University of Missouri in the United States. In 2009, he served as a visiting researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and as a visiting associate professor at the University of Illinois. In 2017, he was a Fulbright senior research fellow at the University of Hawaii.
Recently, he has been conducting research related to sustainable (green) finance, including corporate performance analysis considering environmental costs and ESG analysis, as well as fintech fields such as P2P lending and analysis of success factors in crowdfunding.
He has served as the editor-in-chief of the official journal of the Korean Finance Association, Financial Research, and also as the editor-in-chief of the indexed academic journal Financial Stability Research published by the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Professor Park majored in Business Administration as an undergraduate at Yonsei University and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Illinois in the United States.

The Korea Securities Association, founded in 1976, is the longest-established academic society in the Asia-Pacific region specializing in finance and financial fields. With 1,470 members, the largest number domestically in the field, it holds the highest authority in related academia. Emphasizing the connection between academia and practice, it contributes not only to pure academic research but also to the improvement of financial practice and systems.
The association’s main activities include publishing academic journals: the English journal AJFS (Asia-Pacific Journal of Financial Studies) and the Korea Securities Association Journal, both published six times a year. Regular academic conferences (including international academic conferences) are held four times annually, and symposia are held five times a year.
The AJFS, published by the association, was the first finance and financial academic journal from the Asian region to be indexed in SSCI, a globally recognized authority, in 2006.
