[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] It is anticipated that the notch will disappear from the iPhone 13, scheduled for release next year, and a 'punch-hole display design' similar to Samsung Galaxy will be applied. Additionally, Apple's first foldable iPhone is expected to feature an 8-inch display and be released in 2023.

On the 1st (local time), according to MacRumors and others, Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst at TF International Securities, revealed this in a recent report sent to investors.

Analyst Kuo stated that at least the high-end iPhones in 2022 could adopt a punch-hole display design instead of the notch, and if production yields are sufficient, this design could be introduced across all iPhone models released next year. The notch design, applied since the iPhone X, is a design that leaves part of the display empty to place the camera and other components. Previously, Apple filed a patent to embed Face ID into the display, leading to speculation that the notch, which had been criticized for disrupting the design, would disappear.

Furthermore, Analyst Kuo predicted that if development proceeds smoothly, an iPhone with an under-display fingerprint sensor and a front display design without a notch or punch-hole will be released in 2023. He also expected a budget iPhone with a 6-inch LCD display, Face ID, and priced under $600 to be launched in the first half of 2023.

Along with this, Analyst Kuo estimated the release of Apple's foldable iPhone to be in 2023. The foldable iPhone is known to feature a 7.5 to 8-inch display. IT specialist media PhoneArena reported, "This is not competing with the Galaxy Z Flip but rather competing with the Galaxy Z Fold." Currently, Apple is in the early stages of the foldable iPhone project, conducting tests and other processes. While a 2023 release is likely, foreign media added that this also depends on the development of core technologies and mass production issues.
