Selected works to be published in the 26th issue of Jungnang Literature this December

The 17th Jungnang New Year's Literary Contest Announcement


[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is holding the 17th Jungnang New Spring Literary Contest, where citizens can freely showcase their literary talents to welcome the spring of March when all things stretch and awaken.


The contest, accepting submissions from March 2 to May 31 for two months, will receive entries in four categories?poetry (including sijo), essays, children's literature (children's poems/stories), and short stories?based on themes such as Jungnang-gu's nature, environment, culture, and daily life. It is expected to serve as a literary platform that nurtures pure literary talents in Jungnang-gu.


The required length for submissions is as follows: ▲ Poetry (including sijo) ? at least 3 pieces per person ▲ Essays ? approximately 15 pages based on 200-character manuscript sheets ▲ Children's literature: for children's poems, at least 3 pieces per person; for children's stories, approximately 30 pages based on 200-character manuscript sheets ▲ Short stories ? approximately 80 pages based on 200-character manuscript sheets.


Anyone who has not yet been published, regardless of region or age, can participate. Applicants can submit their works by uploading them as attachments through the Jungnang-gu Office website under Citizen Participation → Internet Submission.


Submitted works will be judged to select a total of 13 pieces for grand prize, excellence, and encouragement awards. The selected works will be published in the 26th issue of "Jungnang Literature," issued by the Jungnang branch of the Korea Writers' Association in December.


Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “The Jungnang New Spring Literary Contest is a great opportunity for citizens to demonstrate their literary talents as the power of cultural content grows day by day. We hope to receive many literary works featuring Jungnang-gu as their theme.”


Meanwhile, now in its 17th year, the Jungnang New Spring Literary Contest serves as an opportunity for pure literary writers to debut, expands the base of literature, and plays a significant role in the development of local creative culture. Last year, 218 citizens submitted a total of 486 literary works to the contest.
