LG Twins, Unable to Confirm Facts of Player's School Violence Allegations, Decision Deferred

[Asia Economy Reporter Nana Han] The LG Twins professional baseball team has postponed judgment due to difficulty in confirming whether a player affiliated with the team was the perpetrator of alleged violence against a schoolmate during their school days.

On the 1st, the LG team issued a statement saying that they carefully verified the facts to understand the situation at the time by interviewing the player accused of school violence (hakpok) and also meeting with the party claiming to be the victim.

They added that according to testimonies from those involved at the time, the claims of the victim and the accounts of others significantly contradict each other, making it difficult to confirm the facts at this point.

They further stated that they will withhold judgment and await the results until all procedures to clearly establish the facts, including possible legal actions by the player in question, are completed.

Earlier, on the 21st of last month, A, who played on a high school baseball team, revealed his real name on a baseball-related internet community and claimed, "As a first-year junior to B and C in high school, I suffered from their school violence," adding, "Because of them, I often could not attend school or the baseball team."

A identified two current professional baseball players as the perpetrators of school violence. One belongs to LG, and the other to the Doosan Bears.

Both teams immediately met with their respective players to investigate the facts, and the players denied the allegations.

Additionally, both teams met multiple times with the victim and others familiar with the situation at the time to investigate the circumstances through various channels.

The LG team pledged, "School violence, which is currently a major social issue, must never occur and must be eradicated. We will do our utmost to fulfill our social responsibility to prevent school violence."

They also stated, "We will make every effort at the team level through education and guidance to root out all forms of violence, including school violence, and to establish a team culture that respects teammates and opponents."
