US Korean Community Group Launches Boycott of 'Mitsubishi' for Supporting Professor Ramseyer's Position

[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] After it was revealed that Mark Ramseyer, a professor at Harvard University in the United States who referred to Japanese military comfort women as prostitutes, was appointed with sponsorship from Mitsubishi, Korean Americans in the U.S. have launched a boycott against the Japanese company Mitsubishi.

On the 28th (local time), a petition was posted on 'Change.org,' the world's largest petition site, urging people not to buy products from Mitsubishi, a representative war criminal company.

This petition, posted under the name 'Comfort Women UNESCO,' was titled "Let's boycott Mitsubishi" and stated that "this concerns the false and harmful claims of Mark Ramseyer, a professor at Harvard Law School."

Korean American organizations in northern California said in the petition, "Professor Ramseyer was appointed with funds established by Mitsubishi at Harvard University, holding the title 'Mitsubishi Professor of Japanese Legal Studies."

They pointed out, "Continuing to support Mitsubishi implicitly endorses the absurd and insulting claims made by Professor Ramseyer, who holds a professorship granted by the Mitsubishi company."

Furthermore, the Korean American organizations urged, "Please join us in refusing to purchase all Mitsubishi products, including automobiles, TVs, and electronic components."
