[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] KOTRA announced on the 1st that it held a webinar titled "Know-how to Get Noticed at the Startup Collision Pitching Competition" to help prepare for the North American representative technology conference, the 'Collision Pitching Competition.'
The webinar was held on the 25th of last month to help Korean startups prepare for the 'Collision Pitching Competition,' which will be held over three days starting from the 20th of next month. Collision is a North American representative technology conference hosted by the Web Summit team, the world's largest technology conference, and technology startups regard participation in this competition as a shortcut to successful entry into the North American market.
About 300 startups apply for the competition each year, and approximately 50 companies are selected through screening to participate in the final round. The American cleantech startup 'Roliware,' which won the competition in 2019, secured an investment of 6 million dollars. The Polish startup 'Gluko Active,' which won last year, has been actively conducting business in the North American region while attracting investors.
Mickey Kangwani, Director of the Collision Organizing Committee, appeared as a speaker at this webinar and introduced detailed information about the pitching competition. Another speaker that day, Kwon Younghae, CEO of Petmate, explained in detail his experience and know-how of investment pitching at the 2019 Europe's largest convergence conference, Web Summit. Various domestic technology startups in fields such as △Artificial Intelligence (AI) △Deep Learning △Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) △Logistics and Data Solutions △Electric Vehicle Parts △Underwater Robots participated in this webinar.
Jung Younghwa, Head of KOTRA Toronto Trade Center, said, "Collision is the biggest gateway for technology startups to enter the North American market," and added, "Through Collision, we will actively support excellent domestic technology startups to be better known in the North American market and to find desired business partners."
