[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Jung Young-ae, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, will meet with grandmother Lee Yong-soo, a victim of Japanese military sexual slavery, on Samiljeol (Independence Movement Day).


According to the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family on the 1st, Minister Jung will meet with grandmother Lee Yong-soo to discuss current issues such as the direction of commemorative projects related to victims of Japanese military sexual slavery and to hear opinions on victim support.


Minister Jung visited Nanum House, a shelter for victims of Japanese military sexual slavery, two months after taking office in December last year, but this will be her first meeting with grandmother Lee Yong-soo.


Grandmother Lee held a press conference on the 16th, asserting that the issue of Japanese military sexual slavery should be referred to the International Court of Justice.


In response, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family stated, "To restore the dignity and honor of the victims, we will actively listen to the opinions centered on the grandmothers," and added, "We plan to continue meeting with the victims and actively reflect their opinions in promoting support projects and commemorative projects."
