[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Hapcheon Cherry Blossom Marathon, a representative festival for runners in the Yeongnam region, has been completely canceled again this year as a preventive measure against the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), following last year's cancellation.
Hapcheon County held a marathon countermeasure meeting composed of marathon club members, the Athletics Federation, and the Sports Council, and decided that overcoming COVID-19 in the local community and ensuring the safety of social members are the top priorities.
Moon Jun-hee, the mayor of Hapcheon County, said, “I hope COVID-19 will come to an end, carrying the hearts of the marathon club members and their families who have been waiting for the Hapcheon Cherry Blossom Marathon. We will prepare to make the 2022 event more substantial and abundant.”
