[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 25th, Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced that due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the 2021 Miryang Citizen University will be operated by providing online lecture content.

This Miryang Citizen University was planned not in the previous hybrid on- and offline method, which involved high costs and risk of COVID-19 transmission, but by purchasing excellent lecture content from a specialized video lecture service company and posting it on the Miryang lifelong learning portal.

Expected issues such as overload due to simultaneous access, illegal leakage, and unauthorized distribution will be identified in advance and measures will be taken.

Online lectures will be posted twice a month from March to June, and any Miryang citizen can freely watch them.

The first posting will be on the 1st of next month, featuring lectures by Professors Kim Kyung-il and Choi Jae-bung on the theme of the COVID-19 pandemic era.

Kim Gap-su, Director of the Lifelong Learning Center, said, “Through this online lecture operation, we will do our best to maintain the legacy of the Citizen University even in the COVID-19 situation, and to help citizens fulfill their cultural interests and improve their quality of life.”
