Jangseong-gun, All-Out Effort to Prepare for COVID-19 Vaccination

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) announced on the 24th that it has entered the final preparation stage for the smooth administration of the COVID-19 vaccine by holding a meeting.

The county held discussions related to the COVID-19 vaccine centered on a local consultative body composed of related organizations such as Deputy Governor Im Yoon-seop as the head, the police station, fire station, local medical association, and National Health Insurance Corporation.

In addition, expert opinions on the safe delivery of the vaccine were heard.

The county will begin the initial vaccination from the 26th of this month to the 4th of next month targeting 443 inpatients, residents, and workers at two nursing hospitals and seven elderly care facilities.

The vaccine type is AstraZeneca, and the age limit is up to 64 years old.

Vaccination for those aged 65 and older is scheduled to begin around April.

The remaining residents aged 19 to 24, adult chronic disease patients, firefighters and police officers, and workers at education and childcare facilities will receive vaccinations starting in July.

The secured vaccines include four types: AstraZeneca, Janssen, Pfizer, and Moderna, and vaccine recipients cannot choose the type of vaccine.

A total of 31 vaccination sites will be prepared by region. The vaccination center overseeing the vaccinations will be established at the Gunmin Hall located in Jangseong-eup, equipped with 12 medical personnel, 15 administrative staff, and ambulances.

The county plans to continue sequential vaccinations so that more than 70% of all residents can receive the vaccine.

To this end, it focuses on securing sufficient vaccine supplies and establishing a safe delivery and distribution system, while also strengthening collaborative systems such as the vaccination response task force and medical personnel training.

A county official said, “Above all, it is important for residents to return to their daily lives as soon as possible,” and added, “We will establish and operate a safe and efficient vaccination system through public-private cooperation.”
