[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak District, participated in the "Thank You, Essential Workers" campaign on the 24th.

The "Thank You, Essential Workers" campaign is a relay campaign expressing gratitude and encouragement to essential workers who play a key role in maintaining the functions of our society, such as healthcare and medical staff, logistics and transportation workers, sanitation workers, social welfare workers, and delivery workers, who risk infection to perform face-to-face duties amid the prolonged COVID-19 disaster situation.

Participants hold a sign handwritten with "Thank You, Essential Workers," take a photo, upload it to their social networking services (SNS) such as Facebook or Instagram, and then designate the next participant.

Mayor Park Jun-hee participated in the campaign and said, "I deeply appreciate the hard work of essential workers who are devotedly working to protect the safety and daily lives of all of us despite the risk of COVID-19 infection," adding, "I will actively work with the government and Seoul City to improve the treatment of essential workers."

Having been nominated by Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo District, Mayor Park Jun-hee designated Park Sung-soo, Mayor of Songpa District, and Park Kyum-soo, Mayor of Gangbuk District, as the next participants and requested their participation in this meaningful campaign.

Meanwhile, on February 18, the "Ordinance on the Protection and Support of Essential Workers in Gwanak District, Seoul" was enacted and promulgated, and it is expected to contribute to creating a social atmosphere where essential workers are respected in the future.
