Seonjin Creates Sustainable Livestock Industry Through ESG Management

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Sajo S Foods, a livestock food specialist company, announced on the 24th that it will secure sustainable value in the livestock industry by strengthening ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.

Beomkwon Lee, Sajo S's CEO, emphasized ▲expanding eco-friendly businesses and strengthening animal welfare ▲practicing shared social values and enhancing win-win cooperation with customers and partners when announcing the 2025 vision last year.

Sajo S first carried out ESG-related activities starting from small areas that can be immediately implemented. In the livestock food sector where the use of ice packs is inevitable, eco-friendly ice packs were applied to products sold at Sajo S's online store, Sajo S Farm, including Sajo S Pork Han Don. Among the Lunar New Year gift sets, the Airline Set used recyclable packaging instead of unnecessary excessive packaging. It was packaged with ice packs that can be reused as coolers for outdoor activities such as camping and shopping bags, and can also be used as plant fertilizers.

Sajo S is leading the animal welfare field in the livestock pig farming sector. As of February 2021, about 70% of the 17 domestic animal welfare-certified pig farms, including 12 farms, are Sajo S partner farms. Animal welfare is a concept that guarantees a nature-friendly environment considering the habits of animals rather than a human-centered artificial environment, aiming to reduce stress in pigs.

Furthermore, Sajo S is preparing various activities to solve essential tasks in the livestock industry. Due to the characteristics of livestock farming, it plans to lead sustainable livestock farming by investing in environmental technology containing livestock know-how to reduce livestock barn odors caused by cow and pig manure and prevent soil pollution. Sajo S is jointly providing eco-friendly solutions with SETI, a specialized livestock environment solution company, to solve challenges in the livestock industry.
