[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Son Taerak, former president of Seoul-Munsan Expressway, has been appointed as the new president of Korea Real Estate Board.


According to the National Assembly and industry sources on the 23rd, the Korea Real Estate Board resolved at the shareholders' meeting to recommend Son as the final candidate for the president of the Real Estate Board.


Son is scheduled to take office on the 26th after being nominated by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and approved by President Moon Jae-in, with a term of three years from the date of appointment.


The current president Kim Hakgyu's term ends on February 25.


Son, a native of Pohang, Gyeongbuk, passed the 31st Administrative Examination and has held key positions such as Director of Housing and Land Office, Director of Urban and Land Office at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Director of Busan Regional Land Management Office.


Previously, the Real Estate Board conducted a recruitment for the new president from December 7 to 21 last year. It is known that six candidates, including Son and several external and internal personnel of the Real Estate Board, applied for the position.
