[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] GM Hanmaeum Foundation Korea announced on the 23rd that it held a vehicle donation ceremony at the Korea GM Bupyeong headquarters PR center and delivered 20 Spark vehicles to 20 nationwide child care institutions selected through a public contest.
The vehicle donation project is Hanmaeum Foundation's flagship project that has been ongoing for 16 years since the foundation was established in 2005. This Spark donation was carried out by selecting 20 institutions nationwide through a public contest and fair screening conducted jointly by Hanmaeum Foundation and the Incheon Community Chest of Korea.
Recently, social responsibility for children experiencing domestic violence such as abuse, neglect, and abandonment has been emphasized. To participate in solving these issues and support a hopeful future for our children, institutions specializing in child care were selected as the recipients of the vehicles.
The Spark delivery ceremony was held with the attendance of Kaher Kazem, Chairman of Hanmaeum Foundation; Yoon Myung-ok, Secretary General of Hanmaeum Foundation; Kim Sung-gap, Head of the Metal Workers' Union Korea GM Branch; Shim Jae-sun, Chairman of the Incheon Community Chest of Korea; and volunteer employees of Korea GM. Among the 20 child protection institutions, Hong Hyun-jung, Director of the Incheon Child Protection Agency, attended as a representative.
Kaher Kazem, Chairman of Hanmaeum Foundation, said, “Since the establishment of Hanmaeum Foundation, we have donated a total of 655 Chevrolet vehicles to local communities, supporting marginalized neighbors in our regions. I hope the Chevrolet Sparks delivered today will be usefully utilized at child care institutions across the country and help realize the dreams of our children.”
Shim Jae-sun, Chairman of the Incheon Community Chest of Korea, said, “We deeply appreciate the continuous practice of sharing despite difficult times, and we will actively cooperate with Korea GM to realize social values in the future.”
Hong Hyun-jung, Director of the Incheon Child Protection Agency, said, “We are pleased and grateful to be able to effectively support our children through this vehicle donation. Based on the vehicle support, we will provide enhanced welfare services and strive even more for the bright future of the children.”
