Math Education Service 'Mathplat' Operator Freewill Secures 5 Billion KRW Investment

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Freewillin, operator of the math education service 'Mathplat,' announced on the 22nd that it has secured a total of 5 billion KRW in Series A funding from Altos Ventures and DSC Investment.

Founded in 2017, Freewillin operates 'Mathplat,' a math education content service used in schools and math academies by integrating IT technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning with the mission of "making education smarter and accessible to more people."

Since receiving seed investment from Primer, which focuses on early-stage companies, in 2017, Freewillin has grown 20-fold over four years, acquiring a total of 2,500 client companies and currently holds the number one market share.

Mathplat, used in math academies, study rooms, and schools, is a subscription-based problem bank service for math teachers that supports all math-related problems and offers a comprehensive solution capable of managing individual students. Based on a high customer satisfaction rate of 98.6% and a monthly repurchase rate of 97%, teachers use the service for an average of more than 30 months per person. The core competitiveness lies in being able to use a vast amount of content needed by math teachers, including 500,000 problem bank items, all within Mathplat.

Park Hee-eun, partner at Altos Ventures who led this investment, stated, "We have confirmed through math teachers' experiences that students' academic achievement is actually improving through personalized customized education," and added, "We look forward to its role as a 'game changer' in the education market." Kwon Ki-seong, CEO of Freewillin, said, "Education is still a field that requires much innovation, and we will create meaningful and enjoyable changes in education with Freewilliners."

Based on this investment, Freewillin plans to accelerate growth by actively recruiting key talents in sales, marketing, development, and math content business.
