Gwangju City and Public Officials Union Sign New Collective Agreement Including Personnel System Improvements On the morning of the 19th, Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, attended the signing ceremony of the collective agreement between Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Gwangju Branch of the National Public Officials Labor Union at the city hall multipurpose hall. [Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Gwangju Branch of the National Public Officials Labor Union (hereinafter ‘Si Nojo’) signed the ‘City-Si Nojo Collective Agreement’ on the 19th at the City Hall Multipurpose Hall.


Si Nojo submitted a collective bargaining demand consisting of a total of 98 articles and 167 clauses to Gwangju City in June 2019, and after 1 year and 9 months of main negotiations, working-level negotiations, and preliminary negotiations, they reached a final agreement with a total of 94 articles and 154 clauses.


This collective agreement includes provisions on the rational operation of the personnel system, improvement of working conditions, maternity protection, and guarantee of union activities. The city plans to submit an implementation plan to the union within three months from the date of signing.


Collective agreements are usually pursued every two years.


Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, “Valuable results were achieved through active communication with mutual concessions and consideration between labor and management,” and added, “The city will do its best to faithfully implement the agreement. Let us work together for the happiness of citizens and the development of Gwangju.”
