Applications accepted until March 3... Any Dongjak-gu resident can participate and propose various agendas... Selected outstanding agendas will be decided as 2022 cooperative governance projects through the June residents' vote
The district held the Dongjak Cooperation Deliberation Forum in the district office auditorium in May last year.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is hosting the ‘2021 Dongjak-gu Public-Private Cooperative Agenda Proposal Contest,’ where residents directly participate and propose ideas.
This contest was organized to activate public-private cooperative projects in which residents participate in all stages?from planning and execution to evaluation of policies and projects?moving beyond the existing resident participation projects that were limited to business proposals or decisions.
Since 2018, the district has held annual public forums reflecting resident demands to discover cooperative agendas. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic last year, it held deliberation and public forums both online and offline, discovering over 110 agendas, continuously establishing a unique public-private cooperation process for our district.
Anyone residing in Dongjak-gu or whose workplace or school is located in Dongjak-gu (including resident groups) can participate.
The contest targets public-private cooperative agendas at the district level, including ▲ agendas addressing community issues positively affecting two or more neighborhoods rather than benefiting specific residents or groups ▲ agendas necessary for or connectable to the smooth execution of existing public-private cooperation projects ▲ agendas that were difficult to implement due to the need for collaboration with private partners.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the proposal form from the announcements section on the district office website and sending the completed form via email to the person in charge (nana40@dongjak.go.kr) by March 3.
The district will conduct joint evaluations with public and private sectors by the end of April, selecting about 10 outstanding agendas and announcing the results on the website.
The selected outstanding agendas will be reviewed by the responsible departments and deliberated by public-private parties to be planned as cooperative projects. They will be finally decided as 2022 cooperative implementation projects through a resident vote in June.
Kim Hyun-ho, Director of the Planning and Coordination Division, said, “We hope this contest will serve as a communication channel where residents and our district can collaborate to solve local issues,” adding, “We ask for much interest and participation in this contest that can improve residents’ lives through changes in Dongjak-gu.”
