[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] On the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday, a drunk driver crashed into a traffic facility, resulting in the death of a passenger.
According to Gwangsan Fire Station and Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju on the 15th, at around 10:29 PM the previous day, a passenger car driven by A (49) collided with a pedestrian island traffic light at Jangsu Intersection in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
As a result of the accident, passenger B (38, female) was seriously injured and transported to the hospital but ultimately passed away.
A also complained of pain in the knee and shoulder and is receiving treatment at the hospital.
Police investigation confirmed that the blood alcohol level corresponded to a license suspension level.
The police have booked A on charges including violation of the Road Traffic Act and plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident once treatment is completed.
