[Asia Economy Reporter Park Soyeon] The Military Mutual Aid Association announced on the 15th that Kim Yu-geun, former First Deputy Director of the National Security Office (Korea Military Academy Class 36), has been inaugurated as the 15th Chairman of the Military Mutual Aid Association.


In his inaugural speech, the new Chairman Kim Yu-geun stated, "In the post-COVID-19 era, let us create a top-tier mutual aid association that leaps forward together with our members through agile and timely change management."


Chairman Kim emphasized, "I will focus our capabilities on maximizing operating profit while faithfully adhering to the founding philosophy and strictly observing fundamentals and principles, practicing transparent management." He added, "Through scientific risk management, I will manage assets stably and streamline the management system to develop into a future-oriented organization."


Regarding the recent economic situation, he urged, "With pride as a globally recognized model country for COVID-19 prevention, let us adopt a proactive investment mindset, including the government's Green New Deal policy and expansion of overseas investment markets, to turn crises into opportunities through preemptive responses in the COVID era."


Chairman Kim Yu-geun graduated from Korea Military Academy Class 36 and has served as the commander of the 8th Division, commander of the 8th Corps, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army Headquarters, Deputy Chief of Joint Staff, Director of the U.S. Forces Korea Base Relocation Project Group at the Ministry of National Defense, and Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC) and First Deputy Director of Security at the National Security Office.


The new Chairman Kim Yu-geun was elected at the 106th Delegates' Meeting, composed of 37 active-duty soldiers and military officials, and took office with the approval of the Minister of National Defense.
