Tesla Launches Model Y in Korea... How Much Is the Subsidy? Tesla Model Y

[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Tesla Korea announced on the 13th that it will officially launch the Model Y in Korea and begin accepting orders.

The Model Y, a mid-size electric SUV (sports utility vehicle), will be released in a total of three models: the base Standard Range, Long Range, and Performance.

The Standard Range starts at 59.99 million KRW, making it eligible for full government subsidies. The Long Range starts at 69.99 million KRW, and the Performance starts at 79.99 million KRW, both receiving 50% of the subsidy.

The government has introduced a revised plan this year to provide full subsidies for electric vehicles priced under 60 million KRW, 50% subsidies for those priced between 60 million and 90 million KRW, and no subsidies for high-priced electric vehicles over 90 million KRW. Accordingly, high-priced electric vehicles such as the Tesla Model S will no longer receive subsidy benefits.

For the Tesla Model Y Standard Range, priced under 60 million KRW, a 100% subsidy (up to 8 million KRW) will be provided, and when combined with local government subsidies, discounts exceeding 10 million KRW are expected.

The driving range of the Tesla Model Y is up to 511 km (based on the Long Range model). The Performance trim accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h.

The Model Y offers seating configurations for 5 or 7 passengers. The 7-seat option will be released domestically at a later date.

Model Y display vehicles can be seen at the Cheongdam and Hanam Tesla Stores, Bundang and Busan Tesla Centers, and the Tesla Gallery at Lotte Department Store Yeongdeungpo Branch.
