Community Children’s Drone Experience, Flying Hope and Dreams
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The LINC+ Project Group at Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk), leading drone technology education for the 4th Industrial Revolution in the southeastern region, recently operated a drone experience class at Busan Seocheon Elementary School and Parannarae Care Center.
The "Community Drone Experience Class with DSU Dongseo University (Supervising Professor Yoon Chang-won)" is a program where students from the Convergence Department participating in the employment-type AllSUN Industry-Academia Track share the skills and experiences they have accumulated through learning drone principles and conducting team projects during the first and second semesters with the local community.
About 30 children from Seocheon Elementary School and Parannarae Care Center participated in this experience class.
The children expressed satisfaction, saying the class, which involved understanding drones and flight practice, was practically helpful for adapting to future jobs. It was a time that could fill the local community, which has been going through difficult times due to COVID-19, with dreams and hope.
Dongseo University students thoroughly prepared lesson plans and demonstrations suited to the theme and conducted classes with various experiential activities, capturing the children's interest and attention.
Kim Tae-wan (3rd year, Department of Computer Engineering), a student who participated in the experience class, said, "It was rewarding that the accumulated experience in the drone field, gained through continuous interest and advice from professors and experts, could be used for elementary school and care center children in our region. It was a meaningful time that allowed me to explore my future career and grow and develop further."
The Dongseo University LINC+ Project Group is seeking new changes for community participation in the 4th Industrial Revolution field through the employment-type AllSUN Industry-Academia Track.
The university plans to continuously expand student participation in the 4th Industrial Revolution field and aims to contribute to the mutual growth of the university and the local community.
