[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] The number of new domestic COVID-19 cases has risen back to the 400s after six days.

The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on the 10th, there were 444 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, bringing the total to 81,930. Although the number had been around 300 for two consecutive days showing a downward trend, the weekend effect of fewer tests and thus fewer confirmed cases disappeared, causing the number to immediately return to the 400s.

Looking at the infection routes of the new confirmed cases on this day, 414 were locally transmitted and 30 were imported from overseas.

In particular, confirmed cases were concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Seoul and Gyeonggi. There were 169 cases in Seoul, 157 in Gyeonggi, and 18 in Incheon, totaling 344 confirmed cases in the metropolitan area alone. Among non-metropolitan areas, Busan recorded the highest number with 18 cases. This was followed by Daegu and Gwangju with 14 each, Gyeongnam 9, Gangwon 5, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk with 2 each, and Sejong and Jeonnam with 1 each. No new cases were reported in Daejeon, Ulsan, and Jeju.

Of the 30 imported cases, 6 were detected during quarantine, and the remaining 24 were confirmed in the local community. Sixteen were Korean nationals and 14 were foreigners.

The cumulative death toll from COVID-19 increased by 4 from the previous day to 1,486. Among hospitalized patients, the number of critically ill patients decreased by 5 from the previous day to 184.
