[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SKC, together with three investment companies, is helping to solve meal problems for elderly people in the region who are struggling due to COVID-19. This is part of SK Group's extended effort to build a 'Safety Net' through the 'One Meal Sharing On(溫)Tact Project,' supporting elderly meals, which has become an urgent issue during the COVID-19 situation.
On the 8th, SKC, along with investment companies SK Nexilis, SK PIC Global, and SKC Hightech & Marketing, will launch the 'One Meal Sharing On(溫)Tact Project.' Each company will provide a warm meal to elderly people in Suwon, Cheonan, Jeongeup, and Ulsan?areas where their business sites are located?in ways suited to the local circumstances.
The initiative starts with SKC. On the 8th, SKC held a 'Warm Meal Sharing for Elderly Living Alone' event near its Suwon plant at the Jeongja 1-dong Community Center in Suwon City, together with the Saemaul Women's Association. They delivered side dishes and lunch boxes made by the Saemaul Women's Association to elderly people living alone nearby. Since 2002, SKC has been running the 'Making Side Dishes of Love' program in cooperation with community centers and the Saemaul Women's Association, preparing and providing side dishes. This year, SKC decided to significantly increase the scale of support to add more warmth.
SKC Hightech & Marketing, which operates a film processing business in Cheonan, Chungnam, also joined the project on the same day. Throughout this year, SKC Hightech & Marketing will deliver health food packages to elderly people living alone in the Seonggeo area where its business site is located. To this end, they established a cooperative system with the town office, Hanaro Mart, and life guidance workers. Health food ingredients purchased at Hanaro Mart are supplied to the town office, and life guidance workers deliver them to the elderly.
SK Nexilis and SK PIC Global will help ensure that free meal systems near their business sites operate properly for a certain period. SK Nexilis, which produces battery copper foil in Jeongeup, Jeonbuk, supports free meal centers for the elderly in cooperation with Jeongeup City Hall. SK PIC Global in Ulsan decided to assist a nearby comprehensive social welfare center that is struggling due to budget shortages.
