[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Joo-mi Lee] Ryu Ho-jeong, a Justice Party lawmaker embroiled in controversy over the unfair dismissal of a former secretary, announced on the 4th that she will file a complaint with the party disciplinary committee against the party member who first raised the allegations for spreading false information. The dismissed former secretary criticized, "Is there victim-centeredness in this case?"
At a press conference held at the National Assembly on the same day, Rep. Ryu said, "Let me be clear, this is not an unfair dismissal," and added, "Tomorrow (the 5th), I will file a complaint with the Justice Party disciplinary committee against party member Shin, who first posted false information on social networking services (SNS) and triggered this situation."
She emphasized, "It is not right for a proportional representative lawmaker of the party to quarrel with a party member, but I will willingly respond to political disputes aimed at gaining the title of a dismissed worker."
Rep. Ryu continued, "I do not think this situation was brought about by the former secretary alone," and stated, "I will not be manipulated by cowardly schemes that exploit the weaknesses of politicians with weak foundations for personal gain."
She added, "The former secretary, who was a national committee member, must now take responsibility for the political actions they chose themselves," and stressed, "In particular, party member Shin seriously damaged the reputation of the party and myself and provoked public ridicule, causing great harm to party supporters. I will hold them legally accountable through a criminal complaint."
Meanwhile, former secretary A denied the allegations of political disputes. On the 4th, A wrote on their SNS, "I do not understand why the frame of a dismissed worker, which I never even considered, is being brought up," and criticized, "Right now, I am talking about workers' rights and human rights."
Furthermore, A pointed out, "The Justice Party shouted 'victim-centeredness' after the incident involving former leader Kim Jong-cheol, but is there victim-centeredness in this case where community, labor, and human rights have been trampled upon?"
Earlier, a Justice Party member claimed that when Rep. Ryu dismissed her executive secretary, she notified the dismissal one week in advance instead of the usual notice period and violated labor laws by not properly observing break times.
