[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Lotte Super announced on the 5th that starting from the 6th, it will introduce 11 eco-friendly electric vehicles as delivery vehicles at some stores in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Songpa and Sincheon branches.
Earlier, Lotte Super held a delivery ceremony for ultra-small electric vehicles at DPICO, a micro electric vehicle manufacturing plant located in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, attended by Kim Moon-soon, Governor of Gangwon Province, Nam Chang-hee, CEO of Lotte Super Business Division, and Song Sin-geun, CEO of DPICO.
According to the company, due to the nature of supermarket deliveries, introducing ultra-small electric vehicles can speed up delivery and vehicle movement by about 30% compared to using regular vehicles, facilitate parking and stopping, and minimize noise and exhaust emissions. Lotte Super plans to gradually expand electric vehicle deliveries and operate up to 100 vehicles within the year.
A Lotte Super official expressed, "Considering the operation of regular delivery vehicles that currently consume about 1 million liters of gasoline annually, we expect that electric vehicle deliveries will reduce gasoline consumption and contribute to environmental protection."
