[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] On the 3rd, Kim Seong-su, Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Headquarters at the Ministry of Science and ICT, visited the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and held a 'Research Field Policy Communication Relay Meeting.'
The meeting was attended by heads of 15 research management specialized institutions, including KIAT and the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute. It was conducted online and non-face-to-face as a measure against COVID-19.
At the meeting, Director Kim introduced ▲ key science and technology policy agendas ▲ the 2022 national R&D key investment directions ▲ changes in research and development systems starting this year, and gathered field opinions from the heads of each institution.
Director Kim stated, “In the upcoming era of 100 trillion KRW national R&D, as government-private R&D cooperation becomes more important, the active role of research management specialized institutions executing government R&D will be required,” and “He asked the heads of institutions for their interest and efforts so that the 'National Research and Development Innovation Act' and related regulations, which will be applied from this year, can be quickly established in the R&D field and a research culture of autonomy and responsibility can take root.”
